- 225g Flour
- 5g Baking powder
- 3g Salt
- 40g Sugar
- 55g Butter
- 40g Raisins (OPTIONAL)
- 1 Egg beaten
- 75ml Milk
- 1 Egg
- 1 Egg yolk
- Pinch of salt
METHOD:
- Preheat oven at 200 degree celsius
- Line a baking sheet with baking paper
- Sift flour, baking powder and salt then strain
- Add sugar and mix well
- Rub the butter into the sifted ingredients
- Whisk the milk and egg together and then add to sifted Ingredients
- Cool the dough for 20 minutes
- Place the dough on a lightly floured surface and roll in circles approximately 1 inch (2.5 cm) thick
- Cut the dough into wedges and arrange them on baking sheet on the baking paper
- Beat the egg, egg yolk and salt.
- Brush the mixture on the top of each scone
- Bake for 15 – 18 minutes or until the scones are golden and firm
